Apollo 17: Taurus Littrow
On the Moon: Gene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt
In lunar orbit: Ronald Evans
TIME SINCE LAUNCH 118:08:02
— Oh, man. Hey, Jack, just stop. You owe yourself 30 seconds to look up over the South Massif and look at the Earth. — What? The Earth? — Just look up there. — Ah! You seen one Earth, you've seen them all.
145:26:25 — PYROCLASTICS
— Wait a minute . . . — What? — Where are the reflections? I've been fooled once. There is orange soil!! — Well, don't move it until I see it. — It's all over!! Orange!!! — Don't move until I see it. — I stirred it up with my feet. — He, it is!! I can see it from here! — It's orange! — Wait a minute, let me put my visor up. It's still orange! — Sure it is! Crazy! — Orange! — I've got to dig a trench, Houston. — Copy that. I guess we'd better work fast. — Hey, he's not going out of his wits. It really is. — Is it the same color as cheese?
170:41:00 — DEPARTURE
— Bob, this is Gene, and I'm on the surface; and, and I take man's last step from the surface, back home for some time to come – but we believe not too long into the future – I'd like to just [say] what I believe history will record. That America's challenge of today has forged man's density of tomorrow. And, as we leave the Moon at Taurus Littrow, we leave as we came and, God willing, as we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind. "Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17."

Night Launch of Apollo 17
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"The huge, 363-feet tall Apollo 17 (Spacecraft 114/Lunar Module 12/Saturn 512) space vehicle is launched from Pad A., Launch Complex 39, Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Florida, at 12:33 a.m. (EST), Dec. 7, 1972. Apollo 17, the final lunar landing mission in NASA's Apollo program, was the first nighttime liftoff of the Saturn V launch vehicle. Aboard the Apollo 17 spacecraft were astronaut Eugene A. Cernan, commander; astronaut Ronald E. Evans, command module pilot; and scientist-astronaut Harrison H. Schmitt, lunar module pilot. Flame from the five F-1 engines of the Apollo/Saturn first (S-1C) stage illuminates the nighttime scene. A two-hour and 40-minute hold delayed the Apollo 17 launching."

Sen. Johnson to Newsmax: Birthright Citizenship Is Ridiculous
Tumblr media
youtube
No matter what a federal judge rules, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., told Newsmax on Thursday he is opposed to birthright citizenship.
"I think birthright citizenship is ridiculous. We're one of the few nations that allow it," Johnson said on "Rob Schmitt Tonight."
A federal judge on Thursday temporarily blocked President Donald Trump's executive order ending the constitutional guarantee of birthright citizenship regardless of the parents' immigration status.
According to Reuters, Trump quickly responded by saying his administration will appeal the decision, a cornerstone of his planned efforts to rein in illegal immigration.
U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour, a Ronald Reagan appointee, ruled in the case brought by the states of Washington, Arizona, Illinois and Oregon, which argue the 14th Amendment and Supreme Court case law have cemented birthright citizenship.
Johnson said conservative judges always apply the law as they read it.
"They're not out to alter the law," Johnson said. "This is the way he reads the law. So he's going to apply it. He's not going to alter it for his own political preference. This will have to work its way through the courts."
Johnson said the case could end up before the Supreme Court.
"If in the end, the Supreme Court rules, no, that's what the 14th Amendment says, we have to adhere to it and tell Congress and the American people to ratify a new constitutional amendment," Johnson said. "This will be adjudicated through the courts. That was really the purpose of the executive order, to start the adjudication of this through the courts, and in the end, we'll get a final ruling on this and we'll determine if we want to change that again."

December 1972: Apollo 17 Lunar Module pilot Harrison Schmitt collects rock samples from a huge boulder near the Valley of Tourus-Littrow. The six and last successful manned lunar landing and return to Earth mission, Apollo 17, carrying a crew of three astronauts: Schmitt; Mission Commander Eugene Cernan; and Command Module pilot Ronald Evans, lifted off on December 7, 1972
I love these pics being young we marvelled at man's achievements, two massive superpowers vying for space superiority ! Its such a shame ppl don't believe that this happened as if just because some of us struggle with a computer and modern tech they think the elder generation can't be as intelligent as them 🤭🤪🙈

Erste eActros 300 Sattelzugmaschine in Deutschland an Logistik Schmitt übergeben – Serienstart Ende des Jahres
Tumblr media
